One-of-a-Kind $75,000 Chopper Raffled in Nationwide Campaign

The Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation Uses Novel Approach to Assist Thousands of Families with Medical Equipment Needs

INDIANAPOLIS—It’s chrome, steel, and pure cool. The MDFF Chopper is a one-of-a-kind creation and this summer, someone is going to win it.

Like many nonprofit organizations, the Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation is turning to novel approaches for fundraising. This year’s major fundraiser has the organization raffling off a “chopper” motorcycle from the famous TV reality series guys at Orange County Choppers. The bike, now in the final stages of production, will be themed with a custom paint job for MDFF and be supercharged with a 1640cc, 100 horsepower engine.

Custom bikes generally sell from $50,000 to $250,000.

“Our innovative fundraiser is completely different than any we’ve ever done and the early interest we’re getting from chopper fans is great,” said Judith Duncan, President and CEO of MDFF.

Raffle tickets will go on sale for $20 each online at www.mdff.org. Tickets will be sold from Monday, April 17 to Saturday, September 16, 2006. To see the chopper in person, visit the web site for its scheduled tour of dozens of select cities.

This is the biggest ever initiative for the national organization, based in Indianapolis, that serves families throughout the nation in need of costly medical equipment. The organization hopes to raise $300,000.

“Caring for a family member with a neuromuscular disease can quickly drain a family’s finances, leaving them unable to afford the expensive motorized wheelchairs and adaptive equipment needed to be mobile and active,” says Duncan. “Thanks to this fundraiser and our supporters, we can continue to help those children and adults live every day with No Boundaries.”

The winning ticket in the MDFF Chopper Raffle is scheduled to be drawn September 16 at the Metropolis Mall in Plainfield, Ind. Metropolis is a sponsor of the summer promotion as is QDoba Mexican Grill, Dan's Cycle Sales, and the Indianapolis Hyatt.
