FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE One-of-a-Kind MDFF Chopper Unveiled in Indianapolis INDIANAPOLIS —The one-of-a-kind MDFF Chopper from Orange County Chopper roared to life and echoed throughout the streets of Indianapolis in it’s official unveiling memorial Day weekend. The event marked the start of a summer-long campaign that will have the chopper crisscrossing the Midwest and beyond in a fundraiser to support thousands of families who receive assistance from the Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation (MDFF). Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts were on hand to catch their first glimpse and to buy raffle tickets at the downtown Indianapolis Hyatt Friday through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased for $20 to win a chance at owning this handcrafted motorcycle made by the TV reality series guys at Orange County Choppers. The one-of-a-kind chopper is valued at $75,000, though custom bikes often sell for up to $250,000. The “No Boundaries” campaign will run through September. MDDF, a national organization based in Indianapolis, serves thousands of families throughout the nation in need of expensive medical equipment, such as motorized wheelchairs that can cost as much as $20,000. “Caring for a family member with a neuromuscular disease can quickly drain a family’s finances, leaving them unable to afford the expensive motorized wheelchairs and adaptive equipment needed to be mobile and active,” said MDFF President/CEO Judith Duncan. “Thanks to this fundraiser and our supporters, we can continue to help those children and adults live every day without boundaries.” The bike is designed in MDFF colors of purple and teal and has a supercharged 100-horsepower, 1640-cc engine. As tour dates are still being scheduled, the chopper is expected to make appearances in several Indiana cities as well as Chicago, Ill.; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Ky.; and beyond. Raffle tickets are also on sale online at www.mdff.org and already hundreds have been sold. The organization hopes to raise $300,000 from the sales of tickets in the “No Boundaries” campaign. The winning ticket in the MDFF Chopper Raffle will be drawn September 16 at the Metropolis Mall in Plainfield, Ind. Metropolis is a sponsor of the fundraiser as is QDoba Mexican Grill, Dan’s Cycle Sales, and the Indianapolis Hyatt. -30- |
