More About Ben
See below for our Q&A with Ben:
- How did you get involved? I was diagnosed with the same form of FSHD Type 2 MD that my mother was. She passed away at the age of 72 from the disease and this is a way to honor her and help others.
- Tell us a bit about your family, hobbies/ interests, how you spend your free time, etc. My wonderful wife and I have been married since 2024. Betty and Theodore (kitties). My fantastic mother-in-law Becky also lives with us on the southside of Indianapolis.
- What personal life experiences drove you to work with MDFF? My MD diagnosis in 2026…this was a good way to channel some energy and help. You can always help others somehow. My parents taught me that lesson.
- What or who inspires you? Good people. Nice people. People who always live on the bright side of life. And I love communications, I have always been a people person, this is why I spent the last 26 years working in the public relations and marketing industry.
- What is something unique about you? I teach college on the side…for 14 years and it is wonderful to help the next generation learn. I also love the band 311 and have seen them live over 70 times. Wondeful music that can speak to the soul.
I collect and sell toys, action figures, comic books. I am a former athlete who still loves to swim in the pool.
