Accessible Van Giveaway
Greater mobility equals greater freedom. The Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation’s one-of-a-kind assistance program regularly awards wheelchair-accessible vans to families needing reliable transportation.
The window for the 2026 cycle is closed. Applications are currently under review.
The next cycle will be open December 1st , 2026 and close the following February 15th.
To apply for MDFF’s Accessible Van Giveaway, an individual must meet the following:
- Be diagnosed with muscular dystrophy or a neuromuscular disease (see applicable diseases listed on the MDA website)
- Reside in the state of Indiana, and have a need for a mobility van
- Enroll here with MDFF
- Have the financial resources to pay for insurance, plates and maintenance of the vehicle
Other van resources:
- National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association: If you are outside Indiana, you can visit their website to learn of programs and assistance in your specific area.
- The Jett Foundation: For those with Duchenne, this national organization offers accessible vehicle assistance.
- Bridge to Mobility is a national non-profit providing last-dollar funding assistance for wheelchair accessible vehicles. If you are in need of additional dollars to help bridge the gap in order to bring your accessible vehicle home, ask your NMEDA dealer to apply for Bridge to Mobility funding.
