More About Barney
Barney knows about MDFF through Matt Sigler and the Doyle family. Barney was inspired to get involved by becoming a van donor through seeing Matt’s own passion for the organization. In 2021, Barney assisted with the Golf Outing and the Feud Fundraisers. Barney joined the MDFF Board of Directors in November 2021 as he believes it is important to give back.
Barney retired several years ago as EVP at Simon Property Group where he worked for over two decades. He has also worked for Duke Realty and focused his career on real estate development. Barney’s greatest inspiration were his parents and grandparents who instilled in him the need for a strong work ethic and the importance of lending a hand to help others pull themselves up.
Barney enjoys spending time with his two adult daughters and his wife, pediatrician Claudia Somes, MD. They travel, stay fit, and love relaxing at Lake Michigan.
